Different Attitudes, Different Results
Every year, Yuna’s school holds a dance contest. This year’s contest is next month.
매년 유나의 학교는 댄스 대회를 연다. 올해 대회는 다음 달이다.
Yuna: Let’s make a team and enter the contest.
우리 팀을 만들어서 대회에 나가자.
Suho: Are you kidding? We’re all terrible dancers.
장난이야? 우리 다 춤 못 춰.
Bora: I know, but I’m interested.
알아, 그래도 흥미 있어.
Minsu: Me, too. It’ll be fun.
나도. 재밌을 거야.
Yuna: Let’s do it. Sounds good, Suho?
하자. 어때, 수호야?
Suho: I guess so.
그런 것 같아.
Situation 1
D-14
Yuna and her teammates are in the practice room, but no one looks happy.
유나와 팀원들이 연습실에 있지만 아무도 행복해 보이지 않는다.
Suho: We’re making too many mistakes.
우리 실수가 너무 많아.
Bora: Yeah. We’re hopeless.
맞아. 우리 답이 없어.
Suho: By the way, where’s Minsu?
그런데 민수는 어디 있어?
Yuna: Well, he’s sick. He texted me.
음, 아프대. 문자 왔어.
Bora: Really? I saw him last night, and he was all right.
진짜? 어젯밤에 봤는데 멀쩡했어.
D-1
The contest is tomorrow, but Yuna and her teammates are not practicing.
대회는 내일인데 유나와 팀원들은 연습하지 않는다.
Suho: I’m so tired.
너무 피곤해.
Minsu: Me, too. We’re not getting anywhere.
나도. 진전이 없어.
Bora: Yeah. We’re just wasting our time.
맞아. 시간 낭비야.
Yuna: The dance contest was not a good idea.
댄스 대회 나간 건 잘못된 선택이었어.
Suho: I agree, but it’s not your fault.
맞아. 네 잘못은 아니야.
Yuna: Why don’t we just quit?
그냥 그만둘까?
After weeks of unhappy practices, they finally quit. They felt hopeless.
몇 주 동안 불만족스러운 연습을 한 끝에 그들은 결국 포기했다. 절망감을 느꼈다.
Situation 2
D-14
Yuna and her teammates are practicing hard in the practice room.
유나와 팀원들이 연습실에서 열심히 연습하고 있다.
Suho: I made a mistake again. I’m sorry.
또 실수했어. 미안.
Yuna: Cheer up! You can do it.
힘내! 넌 할 수 있어.
Minsu: Yes. Don’t worry, Suho. We all make mistakes.
그래. 걱정 마, 수호야. 우리 모두 실수해.
Bora: Come on. Let’s do it one more time! We’re almost there.
자자, 한 번만 더 하자! 거의 다 됐어.
D-Day
The contest is over now. Yuna’s team didn’t win any prizes, but they all look happy.
대회는 끝났다. 유나의 팀은 상을 받지 못했지만 모두 행복해 보인다.
Yuna: Good job! We made it.
잘했어! 우리 해냈어.
Minsu: Yeah! We finished the dance without a big mistake. I feel great!
그래! 큰 실수 없이 춤 끝냈어. 기분 좋아!
Bora: We did our best, and I’m so proud of all of us.
우리 최선을 다했어. 모두 자랑스러워.
Suho: Thank you for your support, everyone.
다들 응원해줘서 고마워.
