Harry was very excited.
해리는 매우 신이 났습니다.
It was his first day at a new school.
오늘은 새 학교에서의 첫날이었습니다.
On his way to school, he thought, ‘I want to make a lot of friends.’
학교로 가는 길에 그는 생각했어요. ‘친구를 많이 사귀고 싶어.’
When he entered the classroom, everyone looked at him.
그가 교실에 들어섰을 때, 모두가 그를 쳐다보았습니다.
Harry said, “Hi, I’m Harry. Nice to meet you.”
해리가 말했어요. “안녕, 나는 해리야. 만나서 반가워.”
They looked at his spines curiously.
그들은 호기심 가득한 눈으로 그의 가시를 바라보았습니다.
At lunchtime, Harry’s classmates were playing soccer.
점심시간에 해리의 반 친구들은 축구를 하고 있었습니다.
“Harry, join us!”
“해리야, 같이 하자!”
Peter, the pig, kicked the soccer ball to Harry.
돼지인 피터가 해리에게 축구공을 찼습니다.
When Harry jumped to catch the ball, the ball went flat.
해리가 공을 잡으려고 뛰었을 때, 공이 터져버렸어요.
“Oh, no! We can’t play soccer anymore. Let’s go inside.”
“어, 안돼! 더 이상 축구를 못 하겠어. 안으로 들어가자.”
The classmates left the playground. Harry was alone.
친구들은 운동장을 떠났고, 해리는 혼자 남았습니다.
On the school bus, Harry found Ruby, the friendly rabbit.
학교 버스에서 해리는 다정한 토끼 루비를 만났습니다.
“Hi, Harry!” Ruby waved at him.
“안녕, 해리!” 루비가 그에게 손을 흔들었어요.
Harry went to sit next to Ruby.
해리는 루비 옆자리에 앉으러 갔습니다.
“Ouch!” Harry’s spines hurt Ruby.
“아야!” 해리의 가시가 루비를 아프게 했어요.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Ruby.”
“오, 미안해 루비.”
Harry went to the back seat. He was alone again.
해리는 뒷좌석으로 갔습니다. 그는 또다시 혼자였습니다.
“Nobody likes me because of these spines.”
“이 가시들 때문에 아무도 날 좋아하지 않아.”
Harry felt really sad.
해리는 정말 슬펐습니다.
A few weeks later, Harry was sitting in the back of the classroom.
몇 주 후, 해리는 교실 뒤쪽에 앉아 있었습니다.
It was his birthday.
그날은 해리의 생일이었습니다.
His classmates were talking about something.
친구들은 뭔가에 대해 이야기하고 있었어요.
Then they left the classroom without Harry.
그리고는 해리를 두고 교실을 나갔습니다.
Harry felt so lonely.
해리는 너무 외로웠어요.
Soon, his classmates called Harry.
곧 친구들이 해리를 불렀어요.
“Harry, come out!”
“해리야, 나와봐!”
When Harry went outside, his classmates were waiting for him.
해리가 밖으로 나갔을 때, 친구들이 그를 기다리고 있었어요.
“Happy birthday, Harry! This is for you!”
“생일 축하해, 해리야! 이건 너를 위한 거야!”
Ruby gave a box to him.
루비가 상자 하나를 그에게 주었어요.
Harry gladly opened it and looked inside.
해리는 기쁘게 상자를 열고 안을 들여다봤어요.
It was full of little sponges. He was disappointed.
작은 스펀지들로 가득 차 있었어요. 해리는 실망했어요.
Ruby asked, “Can I put these on you?”
루비가 물었어요. “이걸 너한테 붙여도 돼?”
Harry said, “Well, sure.”
해리가 말했어요. “음, 그래.”
Ruby picked up the sponges and put them on his spines.
루비는 스펀지를 집어 그의 가시에 붙였습니다.
“Now, we can hug you!”
“이제 우리 너랑 안을 수 있어!”
Everyone hugged Harry.
모두가 해리를 안아주었어요.
A happy smile spread on Harry’s face.
해리의 얼굴에 행복한 미소가 퍼졌어요.
He wasn’t lonely anymore.
그는 더 이상 외롭지 않았습니다.
