The Cool Giraffe
Giraffe:
Being a giraffe isn’t cool.
기린으로 사는 건 멋지지 않아.
I stick out everywhere.
나는 어디서나 눈에 띄어.
I want to be cool like other animals.
나도 다른 동물들처럼 멋지고 싶어.
Monkeys are cool.
원숭이들은 멋져.
They can hang from trees with their tails, but I can’t.
그들은 꼬리로 나무에 매달릴 수 있지만, 나는 못 해.
My neck is too long.
내 목이 너무 길어서 그래.
Cheetahs are cool.
치타는 멋져.
They run fast.
그들은 빠르게 달릴 수 있어.
I want to run like them, but I can’t with my long neck.
나도 그들처럼 달리고 싶지만, 목이 길어서 못 해.
Flamingos can stand on one leg. They look cool.
홍학은 한 다리로 설 수 있어. 정말 멋져 보여.
I tried to stand like them, but I fell with my long neck.
나도 따라 하려다, 긴 목 때문에 넘어졌어.
Giraffe:
Why can’t I be cool like other animals? I hate my neck.
왜 난 다른 동물들처럼 멋질 수 없는 거지? 내 목이 싫어.
Gorilla:
Do not copy other animals. You are a giraffe. Just be yourself, and you’ll feel fine.
다른 동물들을 따라 하지 마. 너는 기린이잖아.
그냥 너답게 살아. 그러면 괜찮아질 거야.
Giraffe:
But I am so different from them. Just look at my neck!
하지만 나는 너무 달라. 내 목 좀 봐!
Gorilla:
To be different is to be special. Look at your long neck with pride. Believe in yourself.
다르다는 건 특별하다는 뜻이야.
네 긴 목을 자랑스럽게 생각해. 너 자신을 믿어.
Giraffe:
I will try. Thanks for your advice.
노력해볼게. 조언 고마워.
Gorilla:
You are welcome. We have a big party tonight. Join us!
천만에. 오늘 밤 큰 파티가 있어. 함께하자!
Giraffe:
This party is so much fun!
이 파티 진짜 재밌다!
Animals sing and dance late into the night.
동물들은 밤늦도록 노래하고 춤을 춰.
Monkey:
It’s getting dark. I can’t see well.
점점 어두워지네. 잘 안 보여.
Cheetah:
Can anyone reach those branches up there? They are blocking the moonlight.
누가 저기 있는 나뭇가지를 치울 수 있을까?
달빛을 가리고 있어.
Giraffe stands up and clears away the branches with his neck.
기린이 일어나서 목으로 가지들을 치워줘.
Animals:
Now we have moonlight!
이제 달빛이 비쳐!
Let’s dance again! Thanks, Giraffe.
다시 춤추자! 고마워, 기린아.
Your long neck is amazing!
네 긴 목은 정말 대단해!
You are cool!
너 진짜 멋져!
Giraffe:
Thanks. My long neck is cool. I’m proud of myself!
고마워. 내 긴 목은 멋져.
이제 내 자신이 자랑스러워!
